The IEC 61511 Standard requires users to justify the selection of their SIF equipment to verify it is adequate for use in your specific application. This justification is done on the basis of IEC 61508 certification, or proven in use justification. In exSILentia, a user can claim proven in use for a non-certified device (including generic devices) by completing the proven in use checklist which allows the user to set the applicable systematic capability for the application. You can also choose to document the systematic capability elsewhere, outside the tool. This can be done in the SIL verification parameters for the SIF at the top of the screen.
